Wild fires :-

Fires are common in N.P., every year.  Main reasons for fire are unauthorized MFP  collection like mahuwa flowers, tendu leaves, antlers, gum etc.  The MFP collectors generally kindle fire to clear the area’s undergrowth so that there is more visibility, ease of movement and collection, and protection from attack by wild animals.  Sometimes fire also spreads from adjoining forest areas.  About 10 – 15 % of the P.A. burns during every fire season which is from February to June.  The boundary areas are more vulnerable to fire.
Fire lines are maintained every year in the park as a fire control measure.

Details of the fire lines are -

‘A’ class fire line - Along the external boundary of the N.P. width 12 meters.
‘B’ class fire line - Along the roads passing through the P.A. width 6 meters on each side of the road.
‘C’ class fire line - Comptt. lines width being 3 meters.
